Prayer for a Successful Day: Overcoming Morning Challenges

Why is it that no matter what you do, you always seem to find a way to oversleep, or something seems to break when you struggle to get up, start your morning routine, and get to work on time?

The trials of juggling everything, including work, overwhelm many people. You are not alone if you wake up dreading the day ahead. Even Christians struggle to find purpose in the trials and triumphs of life, and we can all use prayer for a successful day.

While our work is essential, we should work with all our hearts as if we were working for God.

We all want success in life. Seeking Him first in the morning is important to setting the tone for the day. Daily prayer has become a part of my morning routine. I like to sit down with a nice warm cup of coffee and write my prayers on my tablet using my prayer journal.

While I strive for this idealistic theme in my head every morning, sometimes my most powerful morning prayers are ones in which I pray from a heart that is desperate for God to show up in certain areas of my life, especially work.

My work mostly consists of writing because I am a writer, and let me tell you, there is nothing majorly exciting about being a writer. Still, I love sitting in front of a computer, typing out my thoughts, and sharing the wisdom God has been sharing with me.

My day always starts with a prayer for a successful day. Recently, I was laid off from my marketing job, so I have spent a lot of time writing and working from home, sharing stories, and creating free printable Bible Studies.

For now, this is my work, and even though I enjoy it very much, it is sometimes difficult to get motivated in the morning to get started on the tasks at hand.

Isn’t that how it is, no matter what our work consists of?

We struggle to find the purpose and the motivation to start a new day where we have a new opportunity to serve God through our work and new mercies designed to give us the strength to have a fresh start.

Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we waste the precious gift we call life?

I know this is not an easy question to answer, but I truly believe starting each new morning with a good attitude and a clear mind requires us to embrace daily prayer. It is the only way we can truly know what God wants us to accomplish with our time, and it also aligns our heart with His so we are not only motivated but also have a great mindset.

Having a good mindset in the morning before starting our work is key.

If you can’t get out of bed in the morning, or if simple tasks feel mundane and unimportant, then stop and ask yourself what you are thinking and the beliefs you are having right now.

Ask Yourself these Five Questions if You are Struggling to Get Ready for Work in the Morning

  • Do you believe God is the source of all wisdom?
  • Do you believe God will bless the work of your hands?
  • Do you believe your presence makes a difference in the lives of those around you?
  • Do you enjoy your work? Do you know the mission and purpose of your work?
  • Did you have a positive evening routine? Is what you feel in the morning a reflection of how your night ended?

Asking yourself these questions will help you process where your heart and mind are today. Processing your thoughts and emotions and saying a short morning prayer will allow you to fully believe that God will honor your prayer to “bless the work of my hands, Lord.

Because the truth is your life matters, and I fully believe that, in order to fully walk out your purpose and embrace God’s identity for your life, it requires you to have faith in Who God is and that He created you for a reason.

I know I can doubt my purpose, doubt God, and doubt the work I am doing on a daily basis. Even when I was busy raising little ones, I always doubted that was what I was supposed to be doing with my life. This doubt caused many roadblocks and detours in my life that never had to take place.

But the truth of God’s Word can’t be denied – our diligence to work – whatever that might look like for you – can be a form of service to God.

Here Are 10 Verses To Think About When You Are Praying For God To Bless The Work Of Your Hands

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV): “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV): “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV): “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”

Proverbs 14:23 (NIV): “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV): “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Proverbs 12:11 (NIV): “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense.”

2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NIV): “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ‘The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.'”

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV): “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Psalm 90:17 (NIV): “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.”

Galatians 6:9 (NIV): “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

These verses emphasize the importance of diligence, commitment, and the acknowledgment that our work can be a form of service to God.

The best workplace prayer is filled with God’s Word and faith in what God can do in you and through you as you commit your work to God.

So, if you are ever doubting God’s purpose in your life, or if you are doubting the work you are doing, then this powerful prayer is for you.

Prayer for a Successful Day: Overcoming Morning Challenges

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you so much for a new morning. Your Word says Your mercies are new every morning. Lord, You and You alone have the power to turn my work and my business into a ministry.

You alone can make a way through all that I am enduring right now. Please help me to have a joyful spirit. Lord, I confess that my heart is not always in the work You have me doing, and I cannot always see the purpose in everything.

This makes it very difficult for me to have a good attitude at home and work. I have not had faith in You or my purpose. I have doubted the path you have paved before me, and I have squandered time and opportunities that I can never get back.

Dear Lord, moving forward, I ask for you to forgive me. I know Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your forgiveness is like a well with no end. Forgive me for not taking my life seriously.

Forgive me for not believing You and Your Word. Forgive me for not being obedient to the call you have placed on my life. Forgive me for seeking the pleasures of this world and for seeking escape instead of pressing through the pain and the fears.

Please help me to find a way to build a successful career and/or a successful business. Holy Spirit help me to wake up in the morning on time and with a hopeful anticipation of what the day holds for me instead of with dread of another day.

Open my eyes, Lord, to the beautiful morning that is before me and the potential for the day to come. Guide me and help me establish the routines and habits that will allow me to be successful, efficient, and obedient to You today – this morning and in this moment.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for giving me this good morning, and I pray You will continue to make it a good day.

Father, everything I do is for You, no one else. I will work with integrity, knowing it is done for You. I commit my ways to You because I know You will establish my plans for the days, weeks, months, and years ahead if You are willing.

I am thankful to be alive today, and since I am still breathing, I know you have work for me to do. Let my work be actions and not just words, and I ask that you will make my actions fruitful.

Your Word says everything I do has a purpose and will not be done in vain. I know my hard work will pay off, and You will open doors no one else can. Lord, I am willing to work to help my heart, mind, and body align with this declaration.

Lord, may Your favor rest upon me today, and may you establish the work of my hands.

Holy Spirit, help me not to grow weary in doing good and doing the right thing in my work and/or my business, and I ask that You would grow the seeds I am planting today to be a fruitful blessing in my life and the lives of those around me.

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray, Amen!

I hope this short prayer guides you closer to living out and embracing God’s call. Don’t underestimate the power of positive morning prayer, and aim to write out (or say out loud) inspirational prayers every morning.
