Seven Ways to Exercise Faith

Having faith in God often requires choosing to have confidence in Him, who He is, what He has done for you, and His promises. This article will list seven ways to exercise faith in God.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and believing what you have heard and read. It would help if you exercised your faith to become a stronger Christian. Below are seven ways you can exercise your faith and take action.

Believe God’s Word

When you believe God’s Word as truth, you are exercising your faith and will look for ways to incorporate your faith into your daily life and choices. You may not consider when you exercise your faith and impact in your life you will also impact the next generation through your children or those you serve at church.

To exercise means to use or apply something. As Christians, we use or apply our faith as we believe God’s Word as truth and live our lives according to the principles and lessons found in it.

There are a lot of good things in the Bible you can take hold of to increase your faith.

In times of difficulty, it is helpful to read 1 John 4:4 and believe:

Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

In times of doubt or confusion, you can rely on Proverbs 3:51, which says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.

Obey the Word

Reading and knowing God’s Word is not the same as the act of obeying His Word. When you live by faith, obedience is extremely important. You cannot live by faith when you ignore or overlook what the Word of God says about your life (affiliate link.) Whether deliberate or unintentional, disobeying God’s Word is being unfaithful. Obeying the Word means you incorporate your faith with your choices.

However, God is always faithful even when we aren’t faithful. We can rely on this promise when we mess up, fall short, repent, and turn back to God. If there is disobedience in any area of your life, then now is a great time to make the better choice and choose FAITH in God!

Trust in God’s Goodness

Faith and trust are inseparable. You cannot have true faith unless you trust and believe in God’s goodness. As a believer, you should hold the love God has for you in your heart and remember how He showers you with His goodness. Have faith and impact the life you have.

Pray God’s Word

It is important to pray God’s Word to make your faith grow. This will not only keep your mind and heart attuned to the promises of God, but when you petition God with His Word, this begins to build your faith as you see God move and change situations for you.

Meditate on the Promises and Miracles of God’s Word

Do not just pray God’s Word once, but also take the time to meditate on the Word. Saturate your mind and spirit with the Word, and you will notice your faith increasing, especially in difficult times when you are unsure how to make it through.

Combat Doubt with Faith

Whenever you have a negative or doubtful thought, immediately change the wording of your thought to a statement full of faith that God, our Creator, is in charge and that He is protecting you from your enemies.

Surrender Your Mind to God

Surrendering your mind to God daily strengthens you as a believer and helps you build and increase your faith.

Exercising your faith doesn’t have to be confusing. Just remember that you have to take action to genuinely have faith.
